What you can and can't put in creative assets
Updated
Creative assets go through review like the rest of your metadata. These are the rules from the official asset best practices, plus what storeheader checks for while you edit. The checks are hints, not a guarantee of approval.
The rules
- Don't include specific pricing or discounts.
- Don't include website URLs.
- Don't include copyright symbols.
- Avoid claims that can't be verified, such as awards or recognition the app hasn't actually received.
- Don't include logos or references to other platforms or marketplaces.
- Don't include Apple-designated recognitions such as Editor's Choice, App of the Day, Game of the Day, or Apple Design Award winner.
- Assets must meet a 4+ age rating, even if the app's rating is higher.
- Avoid gore, graphic imagery, or weapons pointed directly at a person or the audience.
- If using text, use a short phrase that enhances the visual rather than describes it; localize it.
- Keep key elements, especially text, inside the safe area, with the focal point centered.
Questions
- Can I say my app is #1 or award-winning?
- Only if it's true and verifiable. Avoid claims you can't back up, and don't use store recognitions such as Editor's Choice or App of the Day, which already appear next to your app where they apply.
- Can I mention a sale or a price?
- No. Specific prices, discounts and website URLs aren't allowed, so the asset stays accurate for a global audience.
- Should I translate the text?
- Yes. Localize any text for every language your app supports. storeheader lets you add languages and download every version in one ZIP.
